The Morning Show June 23 – 27

Coming up will be my very last full week broadcasting from the Monterey studios.  There is a small chance I may do one or two shows from here next week but it is a small one.  Contemplating my impending departure from the Central Coast is tough.  I have lived here more than anywhere else for over nine years. It will be painful to say good-bye to my RadioMonterey friends and family, the physical beauty, the wonderful easy-going lifestyle, and ideal climate.

Still, there is no doubt in my mind that selling AM 540 was the right move.  Sadly, the radio industry continues the precipitous decline that began around 2007 or perhaps even earlier.  Station valuations are headed in the opposite direction from the stock market and liberal talk on the radio is weaker than it’s been since AirAmerica launched.

But when one door closes another may open.  The internet has taken much from radio but it can deliver to online broadcasters.  I implore you to transition to liberal talk on the internet if you hav not already begun to do so.  Progressive Voices has an excellent lineup and there are great hosts like Nicole Sandler and the Young Turks who have their own websites.  I expect to be on RadioMonterey.com 6-9am Pacific for the near future and soon on halginsberg.com.

Remember, I will be taking a two-week break that will begin at some point next week.  We may or may not have replays for you.
